ive crossed pollinated cuke and melon!
« on: August 20, 2010, 08:18 »
i put a post with pics on here a couple of weeks ago because i didnt know what i had growing on my melon plant in my green house, i did have my suspisions then but your opinions were, it was a wild cucumber......
well the melon plant that i planted that it was growing on started to die so i cut the "fruit" off and this morning i thought id cut the end off and have a look, it looks like a normal cucumber inside but smells exactly like a melon!
i can only assume that because i had 3 melon plants on one side of the gh and 3 cucumber plants dead opposite them a bit of cross polination has go on
whats you opinion???
there is a picture on a post a couple of weeks ago but i cant find it.

Not possible, cross pollination only affects the next generation.

This one?

You said a neighbour gave it to you.  Did they give you seeds or a plant?  It could have been cross pollinated from theirs last year if it was their saved seed, so then would be cross pollination.

Here is one I did earlier!  It's a melumber!   :D

I know I've likened the fragrance and taste of my greenhouse cucumbers to melon - they are definitely more fruity than your average shop-bought one...
