Pollinated baby corn - minipop
« on: September 09, 2009, 20:49 »
Evenin all

I've got some minipop baby sweetcorn growing and, with one thing and another, they've been left rather longer than they should have *sigh*  so now they've been pollinated and the kernals are growing.  Should I get rid of them or will they taste alright?

Thanks
Lisa

They might be a bit tough now. Mind you I'm not one to advise about mini pop. I grew it for the first time this year and had been wondering why they had gotten so big. Plot neighbour pointed out last weekend that I am supposed to pick em when they are small cos they don't stay that way  ::) Nevermind eh.

I took the male flowers off the top of mine as soon as they appeared, which fixed the problem of them getting pollinated, but they started to taste woody when they go to about 1.5" diameter.
