A friend of the OH has brought some large garlic back from france a neighbour of hers was growing.  She is giving it away as the woman had so many she was throwing it out.  Any ideas if I plant a clove or two, when they should be planted.

Without knowing the variety...ie hard/softneck or Spring planted or Autumn...difficult to say.

Put it in the ground October and see what happens.

Don't know for sure but around here garlic is not planted until after 25 November.  I don't know why. (Probably to do with saint's days and stuff).

Ok then got enough cloves so can do some on different dates.
