...are they meant to be mounded up?  Mine seem to be growing out of the ground, but some are unfortunately rotting.  Is this normal?

Not an expert on swedes but they do grow nine tenths on surface like tunips beetroot ect.Regarding rot they sometimes develop growing cracks which is not fatal but if it is a soft rot I would pull out and throw away affected plants. Hope this helps   Bob

Thanks Bob, that helps a lot.  I had no idea that swedes grew out of the ground  :oops: .  Looks like some have been affected by soft rot, we pulled a couple up today. Will check out the rest tomorrow, I gather soft rot is when they look and feel slimey and rotten?!

Swedes don't like wet feet. Try growing them on a raised drill. Working for me so far this ear.
