Every year my kitchen is inundated with these flies (drosophila, thunder flies, vinegar flies) because I have 2 counter top bins and one big one outside the back door. I know they would come in anyway for the fruit in bowls and I've been scrupulous about removing the waste (along with maggots) but although I've moved out the little bins and we're very careful with kitchen waste now, they're EVERYWHERE!!!
I think they're most active at the height of Summer.
Does anyone else have problems? Is there a solution or should I rely on the spiders who've made their webs all over the kitchen windows?
My kids think I'm nuts.....

use fly spray check everywhere to make sure there is nothing fallen on the floor under a cupboard or anywhere else make sure you havent forgotten some thing in a bag they are usualy around when there is some thing rotting somewhere good luck i hope you find the problem

I was told Basil on the window sill will stop flys coming in but I don't know how succesful it is because I'm allergic to it
