cabbage seed pods
« on: July 08, 2010, 15:08 »
Hi....
After growing cabbages last year i left the plants in the ground and they have now flowered leaving me with lots of cabbage seed pods, does anyone know whether these are edible? I would perhaps like to store some seeds for another crop but am left with more than i need and was thinking perhaps they are similar to beans.....

Firstly welcome to the forums.

I have never heard of anyone eating cabbage seed pods, just because they look bean shaped doesn't mean they taste like them!

As regards seed saving, it depends on the variety. If it was an F1 cabbage, you could be hugely disappointed.

Personally given the cost of cabbage seed & how many you get in a pasckey, \I wouldn'y bother. One packet can last me 3 years easily.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
