potato seed pods
« on: August 03, 2008, 17:15 »
Just returned from my son's and whilst there noticed his potaotes have lots of seed pods like small tomatoes growing on them.

Have told him to make sure children don't touch them as I'm sure they are poisonous but no idea how I know that.

Anyway, I could be wrong about that, but what I'd like to know and can't seem to find anywhere is info as to why they have formed this year - neither of us have seen them in recent years.

Is it best to pick them off and get rid of them or should they be left on the potatoes?

Poor bloke, his veg patch is alive with zillions of tiny green/black caterpillars, which have demolished almost all the brassicas.

He has just got back from a weeks camp with 750 scouts up in Hertford (he helps run the local group) and the dreaded caterpillars moved in whilst he was away

Any word on the spud pods would be good, ta very much.

Yes they are poisonous...there have been a few threads on this topic recently so that's probably where you picked up that knowledge even if you didn't realise it!
