I'm still hoping the ladybirds can cope - I've a very fine flock/flutter/scuttle of them this year so no spray for me....so far.

Ladybirds seem quite happy (?) to be moved from one plant to another - I guess they know I'm interesting in providing them with the best seat in the dining-room  ;)

I'm having some luck with the washing up liquid spray.  It appears not to affect the ladybirds (which have moved in en mass) as well.

More ladyird removals today...

My broadbeans have gone from healthy green to amazingly black but that's OK because I picked the last of the crop today... one bucketful of beans.

Next I cut the tops off the plants and, whenever I saw one, moved the ladybirds over to the runner bean frame which is fairly near by.

It took a while but is worth it as the blackfly seem not to be expanding their grip on my runners. The ladybirds are, however, scuttling all over the place.

Still no spray for me.  ;)
