sacks for storing potatos

Anyone got any ideas I know you can buy the hessian sacks but they seem a bit expensive.  Anyone know other alternatives?
Time waits for no man and I can't wait for growth.

Does it have to be sacks? I have a basement storage room for veg and I put all my spuds in rigid poly bins with 'woven' sides and no tops. These will collapse for later storage when the spuds are gone. These get good airflow to prevent the spuds from heating up in close contact. Or, you could build a simple wooden bin with slatted sides and base using scrap wood.

Your local chip shop might be glad to get rid of a few paper sacks.

Get yourself some chickens then save the corn and pellet sacks for your potatoes.

Simples.

Your local chip shop might be glad to get rid of a few paper sacks.

............but they would contain traces of chemicals and insecticides from comercially grown spuds.
Some of us are organic.  :)

I'm going to order a 10 pack of hessian sacks from JBA for just over a tenner. I reckon it's worth it to protect the investment and hard graft that I have put into my spud growing this year.  :)
