I have had my chickens for a few years, but this chicken's bum is red and sore, also white chalky dried residue, checked abdomen its fine, i have brought her in so that i can watch food and water intake.
Its nice to find a website with so many answers and advice.

Someone that knows more will be a long I'm sure but for now I would wash the 'chalky residue off her bottom - it is likely to be dried urates 'wee' to you and I! You can use a baby shampoo and dry her well. Apparently they like a warm bath! I know some use a hair dryer. Not so sure about her red bottom but the dried stuff may be irritating it. Has she got lice in this area?

I have bathed her this morning, she has drank lots, ate a nominal amount. Her poo is watery with yellow powdery bits in. i have just bathed her and dried her. Fresh  water and food but she is lethargic and not walking.
I have found some lice on her, which im waiting for her to dry before i treat, inside her butt looks normal and healthy, but there is red above and below, and along her underside is red. Everywhere else is normal and no abrasions or cuts
