I vent sex my ducklings after being taught how to do it. There is a knack to it and I recommend getting someone to show you how as they can be injured if not careful.

Well yes - but how to find somewhere you can learn.

Exactly, it's not a practical approach and far from error free even from an expert and the dangers of causing injury can't be ignored.  Best to breed auto sexing breeds or wait a few weeks.

The Japanese are the best ones at vent sexing.  It's not easy, I bought  book about it, but still can't do it properly.  Wish I could, as Brian's friend Don who used to have a turkey farm used to have to pay his turkey sexer £70 an HOUR!!!  And that was 14 years ago!
