I have potatoes in very large containers/pots.  When are you supposed to water them.  I am thinking first and second earlies.

Mine are almost under the eaves or whatever they are called of the house so don't get much rain water either, they relie on me.

My earlies had wilted yesterday so had to give them a good watering - never had to do this before but within the hour they had picked up.  Disappointed with the first one dug up only 5 small spuds on, guess I should have watered earlier.  I am going to give the rest a 5 day soaking hoping they swell up a bit.

As long as you have drainage holes, I would water well whenever you get the chance.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

My allotment has not had any rain now for three weeks and the forecast is for another two weeks of dry weather. I have started to water my earlies/2nd earlies on a regular basis (twice a week) I also have 20 earlies in buckets and they get watered on each visit. When you think about it potatoes are made of water.
Water the soil not the plant- to avoid blight.
Hosepipe bans are on the horizen
