i wait till the 1st pods appear, when plant typically 3/4foot high
I do too and/or the first blackflies.

I have beans that I planted in the autumn, getting quite a goo crop, but now have the dreaded blackfly, but not on the tips but further down and all over the smaller beans, I do not really know what to do about them - any ideas - I want to be as organic as possible.  Thanks
