potato flowers

I have been told to pick all the flowers off my potato plants when they flower. Is this correct? last year i left the flowers on and they seemed ok. I need some advice as this is only my second year of growing them. This year they are all kestrel second earlies.

never ever heard that before. I do pick off any of the little green fruiting bodies you occasionally see but that is so the grandkids dont eat them.
