Chicken's with upset tummies
« on: June 07, 2010, 10:47 »
Hi, sorry but another newbie chicken keeper!  Just got 4 lovely girls about 16 weeks old.  Have had them just over a week and very sadly am worried about their poo!  All had bit of upset tummy at first but now seem to have settled down, except maybe one of them.  It looks like the photos of the red intestinal ones but it seems to be there every morning - is it normal to continue like this or should this only be occasional? They all seem happy & healthy and eating and drinking well.
Would appreciate any advice.  Thanks

they could be poohing these in turn - overnight is when they do most of their poohs unless they are broody.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Avoid giving them any treats until any stomach upsets are better. I made the mistake of giving mine left over chocolate cake yesterday and they are both poorly today. I would have eaten it myself, but I can't eat anything with milk in it. It was a stupid mistake to make.

Thanks.  Think you may be right about more than one of them doing it overnight.  Hav noticed overnight where they each sleep and where any redish poos are, and think there is probably only a small amount of red in with one or two of them rather than all  from one chicken.  Will keep watching tho just in case they are poorly - hate to think of anything wrong with them - cant believe I'm actually saying and doing all of this re. chicken poo!
