After over a week of just digging up weed roots - we have all the best ones - brambles, horse tail, bind weed - we have finally got something in the ground.

We planted a strawberry bed with some alpine strawberries I grew from seed and a row of canes and runner beans. It is very exciting to have something actually growing apart from lovely weeds.

we put in alpines last year all eight little plants are now in full swing and we are harvesting 50+ a day

darn it! I tried to enter this into the "what I did on the allotment today" thread and my computer timed out and then it stuck it here.  And now I can't delete it - anyone know a way?

Your strawberry crop sounds brilliant beetroot queen. I hope to have a yummy crop next year!

I can either merge it, delete it, ot let it run it's course!

If I do the former, we'll lose continuity with subsequent posts. I don't see the harm in leaving it be.

They have been worth their weight in gold, especially as they were reduced as they looked like death

I will be looking for some more for home
