Do you think adding a slow release fertiliser like Osmacote to the compost mix will do the trick re feeding?

It might well work, worth a try  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

My cougettes are in potato bags (I had a low harvest of spuds last year too!) and they love it! Had our first ones today.
My squash and cues are in BIG pots and I've put a newspaper folded up in the bottom to keep in the water. It drains slowly and the paper rots down eventually and saves daily watering......
I find putting manure, topsoil, my compost, fbb and some bagged compost is a good mix. Quite theraputic mixing it up by hand in a wheelbarrow. Like making pastry....... ::)

Note to self: Don't try Viettas pastry, ever!  :tongue2:

I'm going to plant a courgette in the top of my dalek compost bin. It's good and full of stuff so in it goes. I shall press the compost down first as it does tend to slump and I don't want the courgette plant to sink out of sight  :D  I will put a bit of compost in first as it might be a bit strong (there's hen poo in it) and leave enough room to top the bin up should there be any further slump  :)

I'll take a pic when it's got going  :)
