what would you recommend based on experience and taste

winter cabbages! lot of risks. Even if you net it. My neighbour lost all of his because caterpillers from next un-netted plot walked into his and decimated them.
winter onions best bet, especially the white (yellow?) one. The red ones again are not so great at all. with the winter we had, the best sized onion (white one) I have is 4" dia (not bad eh!) and it is still growing.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...
