Tumbling Toms
« on: June 01, 2010, 11:53 »
Hi to all those tomato experts out there,

I've recently planted some tumbling toms -  2 to 1 14" wall basket and dont know if i've done right by pinching the side shoots out as you do with your greenhouse cordon type toms - Can anyone advise?

Also how do you make a nettle brew for feeding toms?

You DON'T pinch out because they are trailing bushes. That's the joy of them! No hassle!

Just mash nettles in a covered (stinks!) bucket/container with enough water to cover and leave for 6/8 weeks or so until it's dark and slimy. Use this fluid diluted with water about 1;15 depending on how much water you put in originally. It should look pale brown.
Then top up again with more nettles/seaweed/comfrey.
