Sorry, I seem to do nothing but ask for help.

One of my favourite tomatoes is Outdoor girl.  I have always understood that with this variety you don't take out the side shoots.   Some one on our site told me he always does take them out.  I would like anyones' opinion please.

This is an "indeterminate" or cordon variety & it's usual to take out the side shoots.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've just googled this query, (never remember to try it first).

As usual the advice varies.  It seems to be 50/50 on whether to leave the side shoots in or not.  I must say the side shoots don't seem to be producing anything much in the way of trusses.  So perhaps they have to go.

If they're not doing anything, they may as well come out, rather than waste the plant's energy.

Yes, because the plants are really healthy and it's just a case of redirecting the growth.
