Tomato Virgin
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:43 »
Hello I am a first time Tomato grower and have started with sunbaby and gardeners delight. They are at present in my conservatory.  I have started to pinch out the lower leaves as the plants grow taller (is that right???) and also two of the plants top leaves have started to curl round ever so slightly ......answers on a postcard please  :nowink: what am I doing wrong / right or what should I be doing

I should be called clueless not broody

Thank you!
if wishes were changes.......

There is no need to remove leaves at this stage. Some remove leaves after the fruit has set & grown to a reasonable size to let light to the fruit, although I just tend to remove yellowing leaves.

A bit of leaf curl is usually nothing to worry about & is quite common.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Possible confusion with removing side-shoots? which does need to be done.

I think this video is good at explaining side shoot removal ("pruning"):
