Any advice on how to deal with peach leaf curl?  The leaves on my peach tree have red blotches and look distorted but have not dropped. I gave the leaves a tug but they are still firmly on there. Should I force the leave off and then spray, or spray and wait for the leaves to drop on their own?  I'm dissapointed as the tree looked very healthy with lovely green leaves a few weeks ago.

I wouldn't force the leaves off the tree as yet. Wait for them to fall and quickly gather them. It's important to feed the tree well now with a good rotted manure mulch or manure slurry or fish emulsion. This ensures the tree can produce a fresh set of leaves and fruit and maintain it's health.

I used to live in Gillingham and had peach tree in the garden.

Every year, the tree would get leaf curl and despite many attempts using fungicide sprays etc I could never cure it.

From what I gather, the disease is caused by a fungal spore and one way to prevent it spreading is to cover the tree in some kind of open sided shelter during the winter. This apparantly keeps the tree dry and prevents the fungal spores from being washed in to the buds
