I'd disagree with cerinthe (sorry CQ!), but I've got a clematis with that shaped leaf but phlox's are that shape too- is it a bushy plant, or long stem and then leaves? (not sure that it will help me but it's a good game whilst munching my crispbreads!!!) Jude

Hmm.. that's the tricky bit.  It is growing through a manky hebe which my brother gave me, seven foot tall and leggy.

I can't decide whether to plant the hebe or not, looks like it might have some disease anyway.  Spotted leaves etc

THIS IS A PICTURE OF THE HEBE

So I wondered if the creeping thing was a binafide plant and I should plant it.

I've never had a clematis with stems/branches like that so I doubt it's clematis. I've also never seen clematis with that sort of leaf spot. Wish I could give a better answer.

I cant remember what its called but can describe it so someone else may know.

It flowers towards the end of the summer and has hanging down sort of bract type flowers in mauve and white  followed by berries.

Strange i cant recall its name but can remember what it looks like.  I had concussion last year and lots of things were  wiped off the slate ::)

I don't see the long red leaf stalks on yours VP.  ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

DavidT is usually quite good at this sort of thing and will probably be along later unless he's still munching on his lava bread (or out electioneering!)

(Couldn't be much less help than we are could he?)

Leycesteria formosa?  Pheasant Berry is it's common name.
