If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

I always use liquid seaweed, one capfull to 2 gallons of water. Plants make good roots and gets them off to a flying start.
There is no better show of antisipation than a man sowing seeds in a field.

Hmm, should I be feeding my tomato, chilli and cucumber seedlings?  The tomato ones especially seem to have slowed down since I planted them three weeks ago and they're still quite small.

Macbean, I dont think you should feed chilli's, or maybe just a little. In my experience treat em mean works well for chilli's.

Very new seedlings shouldn't need any fertilising - too rich for them.

Assuming they've been potted on into multipurpose compost, that will contain enough nutrients for about 6 weeks.

You shouldn't start feeding tomatoes with tomato food until the first truss (set of flowers have gone, and left little tomatoes on the stem afterwards) has set.

If you have to feed between the 6-week period and the truss setting, you could use a general purpose liquid feed such as maxicrop or seaweed.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Yes, potted in multipurpose compost three weeks ago, still on my windowsill, and still very small (only about 4" high).  Thanks very much for the advice. :)
