My first year at the allotment, and my caulis are curding now. Have picked & eaten one All the Year Round which was about to go over, and a couple of mini-caulis just ripe for picking today.

Have to say, of all the veggies I've grown so far, this is the only one that hasn't blown me away taste-wise. Actually, it's the only veggie I've grown that I've had tastier & more flavoursome from T*sco, S*&nsbury & A*di. though don't doubt for a minute that I got zillions more in the way of vitamins from my fresher just-picked veggies.

Still.

Is it just me?

I harvested my first ever cauli today.  It was yummy.

I was a bit disconcerted to see that a couple of caterpillars had attempted to take up residence....

I think a butterfly has been in under the net (I found a couple of gaps along the bottom.  Blast.

Despite that, (I've been over all the others and squished any eggs I could find) it seems to be worth the effort so far.  Beautiful taste, so different from shop bought.  The kids loved it!

Next year I'm going to grow my caulis under Environmesh though, just to be sure!!
 :)
Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

I wasn't impressed by my first and only attempt.   Return on effort and space and netting and all the rest ...  absolutely nothing.  >:(  Rotted off in the centre and flopped to the ground.   :(They were over-wintering caulis (Galleon), perhaps I should try again with summer ones?

Think this is the last time I will try to grow Cauliflowers too.  :( I have tried 3 years on the trot and get wonderful leaves and big sturdy plants, but no curds  What am I doing wrong?
