Raspberries
« on: April 05, 2010, 20:58 »
I have recently planted some new canes that were deliered a couple of weeks ago, they have yet to come into leaf - i no its early in spring yet but, most other plants in my garden have started to come into leaf. Am i just worrying over nothing or have a planted them incorrectly? they already were in bud when they arrived and i planted the roots just below the surface as reccomended by the blurb on the packet.

hope you all can help

My raspberry plants, which are 6 years old, are only just starting to look like they're still alive, so its most likely the cold weather slowing yours down. Plants are actually pretty smart so just be patient and make sure yours stay watered for a while to give them a good start.

Matt, what you have to remember is they are wanting to put down new roots before they start the topgrowth. So don`t worry. :D

Hi Matt, if you gently with your thumb nail  scrape at the bark if its green underneath they are alive if its brown you may have a problem, but either way best leave them in for a couple more months to see if they sprout.
