So this is the plan....

..... no Jeyes fluid  :tongue2:

......... lots of potato chunks on sticks buried all over the bad area about a foot apart and regular removal of wireworms from the spuds. Replace them when they start to rot.

.............. also use a few of the old cabbage stalks form the school plot in a similar way.

-- lay them out to kind of barricade off our beds from the bad bit.

Sounds good  :D

I'll let you know :D

No as I can't ensure they don't escape, and I don't know the owner all that well -- only met them once  :)

Old bloke near to me does that sort of diced spud kebab sticks. He reckons because you have cut up the spuds they provide an aroma that is more attractive to the beasties.

Do I sense a business opportunity?  Traveling wire worm removers, with added fertilizers?

It's only the second year of our allotment site which was grassland for decades (it's my first) but the guy is adamant he had fewer problems last year with his spuds than his plot neighbours by using this method.

Glad to hear that stent man as I am still busy setting out those potato kebabs

Only got five wireworms this morning from 30 traps so either they have all wriggled away to the other end where my seed potatoes are or I might be slowly winning

I believe mustard is supposed to speed up the lifecycle of wireworms.  I'm planning on growing mustard as a green manure on some of the plot so we'll see what happens.  Let you know in a couple of years   :D
