Yesterday there was a fresh mole hill and a dead pepper and this morning another couple of mole hills and another dead peper :(  Monday he ate a couple of baby onions :x
I´ve put poison (which the man in the shop sold me) down in a jar in teh run but we are going on a mole trap hunt today.
That or TNT!

Splitting hairs perhaps but I don't think they eat them.  Root disturbance is what kills the plants.

So, technically, your neighbour is correct

:( These roots were def. chewed off! Even the tiny plum tree (about 6 inches tall) that was growing (discarded stone) was looking dead last night, I  pulled it up and the plant had been eaten right through
I need a ferret to put down the mole hole!  I have a chihuahua but he is too fat!

I have a mole too at the moment, they dont eat plant roots but they will chew them off if they get in the way. Too lazy to go round.

They are the peskiest pests, I was told to half bury empty wine bottles in the ground, apparantly the breeze makes a noise in the bottle that the mole doesnt like.

He just didnt like the wine bottle period. Just pushed it out of the way and carried on

If you can get hold of calcium carbide, put a piece down each new molehill.  With the moisture in the ground it releases acetylene gas - which in this form stinks rotten and puts the moles right off.

If you do manage to get hold of it - do not put it in water - unless you like fireworks.

Guess it may the wrong way for me to go.....we've had nonstop rain nearly all this month. It thunders and chucks it down as I type!

I quite like fireworks though....(she says as the sky lights up with fabulous lightening)
