Hi, I didnt have much success with onions from seed last year, so i have bought sets, variety is red baron. 
I didnt really check the spacing though, and there are 100 in a bag so i don't have room for all these! 
Is it possible to keep them until next year? If so how best to store? or best to give them away?

They will not keep.  Plant the best, throw away the worst and give the rest away.

Use the spares as salad onions by planting them in small batches over the season and harvest once they get big enough.

Hi im much the same as alison ive got about 100 sturon onions but only have space for a qtr of these how close can i space them for normal cooking onions im not after show winners!!

if you dont want big onions plant them at 4in they will grow together but leave 9in between rows so you can weed

At worst plant them in a pot as close as you like and use the green shoots.
