How many weeks is a chook before it becomes a POL????

They are sold as POL from about 16 weeks.  They may start actually laying from about 18 weeks, more likely 22-24 weeks possibly older as many people on this site will tell you :tongue2:

thanks i thought it was about 20 weeks but wasn't 100% sure.

I bought 4 POL warren hens last September (18 weeks) and one laid within a couple of weeks, another 2 started up on the day after the longest night (hens aren't daft  :D) and I am still waiting for the last one to lay. She must be nearly 40 weeks old now!

I bought these girls because my best layers were killed by the fox last May (I go on holiday for 3 days and leave them in the care of OH....  :() and though I had new young girls they were pure breeds and taking some time to get going. I'd thought this might be a good short cut - but all my young pure breeds are laying well now and No. 4 is still eating but not laying!

My pure breeds still haven't layed! Although they like to eat a lot the little rotters!  :mad:
