Yes it has certainly risen and that's about the right price for it Sir. We've had the same problem in the Prudhoe gardeners association with getting supplies from the wholesalers. It's not just you or your local supplier believe me.

I've just run a search through Mr Google and that price is roughly average all round the internet.

Last summer we were told that a lot of the chemical stuff that we sell was produced when the price of oil was high a couple of years ago (yes it's the good old petro-chemical stuff at the bottom of it) and the high prices are just working through the system.

The local garden centre up the road from me has said something very similar with regard to things like fertilisers.

All I can say is that you are buying fresh stock if the price is that high, not stuff that has been sat on the shelves for a couple of years.

i have any amount of FYM and havn't used growmore for years now.was just pointing out the price rise.
that equates to nearly £720 a tonne, and the shameful thing is they are last years or even earlier well sun faded J aurthur bower bags.

For this reason, I have ordered some comfrey seeds for this year.  What I have just realized, after reading some older threads and John's pdf on comfrey, is that I may have purchased the wrong type.

I notice that the seeds I have ordered just state 'Herb Comfrey' and they don't mention a variety, whereas the type discussed here is propagated by root cuttings rather than seed.

Have I messed up again?

What if the Hokey Cokey IS what its all about...

Yes - there was at least one down "the shed" on Saturday morning paying his allotment subs and complaining about the rise in prices at his normal place of shopping. He didn't like our prices much better either.

No Christine, don't think it is what I was hoping for.  That'll teach me to read first order later

This is the packet I ordered http://www.thompson-morgan.com/seeds1/product/214/1.html

Although I like the idea of having another medicinal herb, the idea was to grow fertilizer.

Cazzy as John suggests elsewhere on this site you should go for the roots rather than the seed. It's not very easy to start off from seed if you want the composting variety. I know - I've tried.

David I don't do the ordering for the association and we are a members only group limited by the area of the parish boundary so am not sure we could help with your fbb requirement.
