What can I call it?
« on: January 28, 2010, 18:08 »
I'm doing a huge catering job on Saturday (100 people for soup, sandwhiches, cakes and biscuits, all homemade) and I will be making a filling for one lot of sandwhiches by food processing some ham with mayo and mustard, still quite coarse so it has some texture but it is quick to spread when you are in a hurry.

What can I call it? It's ham I've cooked at home, not plastic ham and I think ham spread sounds like it came out of a jar or tin. It isn't a mousse or a pate so what is it

I used an anagram maker - one it came up with was

Mayonnaise Harm Sad Tum.

If you're using a fancy mustard you could put that in the title.

I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down

Ham and mustard relish?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

People will always respond positively to the home-cooked angle, so why not simply, "Home-cooked ham with mayo". Does what it says on the tin!!
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

Thanks folks, I'll make my little "flags" now to describe each item.

So far I've made:

Gingernuts
Shortbread
Flapjack
Tealoaf
Gingercake

and I've cooked the ham this evening. Tomorrow I still have to make:

Jam and coconut sponge
Coffee and walnut cake
chocolate cake
lemon drizzle cake
cheesescones
pea and mint soup

and then just the sandwich fillings and sandwiches on Saturday

First 100 through the door get fed

However as it is a funeral, you may be asked how you know the deceased and friend of the caterer may not be a good enough answer

I'm taking a sneaky sit down whilst the soup cooks, I think it's time for a cup of tea and a piece of cake :)
