Are you feeding just pellets or are you adding anything ie corn?
The only time I have ever had feed wasted is when i mixed in corn one winter.

The original question was about waste ...
You have to mention these things (damp feed) or you will get people just putting feed out on a tray. Believe me .

I use 2 of the 3 kg green feeders, as mentioned above.

When girls were on layers mash (as fed in battery cages) they did make a mess, but no waste now I've got them on pellets.

We suspend feeders off ground, on loops of string, hooked under the coop.  If you don't use string, as the feeders twirl round, the nuts/screws come undone.

I fill them up as necessary, every 3 days or so, and take them in every night to avoid rats.

Did get one of those hats/lids, but a bit of a faff for filling, so don't use it.  If anyone wants it, pm me and I'll post it.

beulah59 how does that stop the feed getting wet?

If you raise it off the ground with a brick the cant get there feet in it.
The original question was about waste ... I hang mine under a cover ... here .... feeders not in photo though as I added them later!

What a fantastic feeding station, what are the blue things that youve used for the framework? :D

I would imagine that the blue things are actually 22mm Blue MDPE pipe or to you and me external water pipe.

I must congratulate beulah59 on this idea.   How have you attached the corriagated sheet to the pipe?

Oh what's that beulah59 what goosebusters75 and I are asking is not on topic?  Oh sorry I will not mention anything off topic again.  :tongue2:

Edit: spelling mistakes.

I love that little feeding station Beauleu59, will definitely get hubby to make one of them, corrugated sheeting is available at Wickes and not too expensive either.  That feeding station if completely covered with just one end open would make an excellent rain shelter as well.  Followed someones advise and left greenhouse open for them as rain shelter, said hubby will as the saying goes 'have one big gob on him' to find his overwintering plants are now just stalks!!   ???
