When you a get an allotment you start to become like Steptoe and Son.  You start going down skips to find wood, old windows and water tanks.  Thinking what can I use that for?  In the end will we all be like George?  My secretary is always on the moan about people bring dodo onto the site, but that’s allotments for you.

Edited to make readable - should get your secretary to type for you ;)

Hello Spudlover, and welcome! You're so right about all the junk - I've got loads now.

But I have to ask, what's 'dodo'? Forgive me, I'm a northerner, but is that a Chingford phrase? :)

Cheers,

Pim.

Called for a chat with George, he's found some tiles in his collections.
So, tidy the kitchen time. :nowink:

Thought I'd better update, George hasn't spent a lot of time on the plot recently. He has arthritis in his legs and the doctor has told him to rest up a bit.
He still slips down to pick up the newspapers we bring him and check his flowers. Mind you with this weather I've done a lot of armchair testing too.
He'll be there on Sunday, never been known to miss a committee meeting, just in case he needs to defend his "collection"!

Poor George.  Bet the bitterly cold and generally miserable weather recently has not not been good for arthritic joints.

Hopefully the better weather and the added spice of a committee meeting will spur him back into action today  :)

Someone spotted youngsters climbing this tree to get access to the scrap yard next door! :ohmy:
Step forward volunteer George to prune off the offending branches.
I held the ladder! ::)

It's been a while and George hasn't been too well, but he's produced his usual crop of dahlias, a greenhouse full of tomatoes and done his biennial abseil down the church steeple.
Then I noticed this! :ohmy:

Which turned out to be a new project! Getting ready for winter!
