droopy wing
« on: August 31, 2009, 14:22 »
Hello everyone
I wonder if anyone has any ideas whats up with my bluebelle Molly this morning. She seems to be having wing problems. One of them is dropping down. Normally you cant even see their elbows as you know. Her's is very visable. She hasnt been attacked by anything..unless she had a barny in the night with one of the other girls in her bedroom. Any Ideas?? she is pecking around in the garden as normal and it doesnt seem to be effecting her is any way other than her wing looking very odd.
Thanks very much
Sarah.

keep an eye on her, as drooping wings can be a neurological sign of something a bit more serious.
if she starts standing on her own and pulling her neck in and looks depressed then she needs a vet asap.

have you checked her poo against the photos in one of aunt sally's stickies ?

Have a gentle feel of the wing.....check for really warm spots and see if the bone alignment is normal.

sometimes when a hen has injured/sprained her leg like jumped off a perch wrong way or off a ramp she will drop her wing for ballance. If she is eating well and drinking just keep an eye on her for a couple of days they normaly heal fine.
