Hi all, i've just read all of this and although some of it i agree with there is alot i don't. I know who the breeder is that some of you are talking about and i can asure you that it didnt come from there.......... as for myco, all birds carry it, and it is stress or a secondary infection that brings it out. there are 28 different mutations of the complaint (notice not disease) so identifying it is always a nightmare. but by shovling antibiotics down their crops at the first sign all poultry keepers are doing is knocking the ammune system to bits. if the infected are isolated at the very first signs then this will stop the spread. also there are many other things that cause the birds to sneeze that most antibiotics wont do anything for i.e grain mites which the bird breaths in and it causes them to gasp and sneeze.

off my soap box now sorry

Pumpkin has been treated for Myco, so far he's been as fit as a flea and none of the others have shown any signs of ill health.

What would be the symtpoms of any secondry illness someone please?
We have 17 chickens, 3 quail, 2 dogs, 3 cats and that's enough (for this week)

that would depend on what the secondary illness is

with any illness, you need to take the bird, or animal to the vet to have it diognosed properly, sometimes it's the actual owner that causes the problem by self diognosis, I know that the vets are not cheap but it's our responsibility to do our best for them
