Onion
« on: August 22, 2009, 16:42 »
Just picked my onions (all quiet small) but one of them has split into five pieces that look like sets. Could I replant them or are they just a rouge shallot.

Very likely it got a lot of moisture and simply split open rather than staying closed. Its perfectly edible, or, you can wait until fall and plant out some for next year.

It looks like a rouge shallot to me. I'd replant and see what happens.

I agree with goodegg. Do not waste your time planting it.
