Hello,

I planted Sarpo Mira on 29th March. I has been healthy with no signs of any disease until last week. I noticed brown spots which I assume are blight. I unearthed one of the plants and the spuds are fine.

• Is it blight?
• Should I cut the foliage now or is it too early for these spuds?

I also planted Sarpo Axona at the end of April which are in flower and show no signs of any of these brown spots.

The photo is a bit small but I don't think it looks like blight.  My Sarpo Mira and Axona both look fine at the moment.  My neighbour has it on his pots and toms though, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Both Mira and Axona are supposed to be particularly blight resistant, but if I spot any signs I am going to cut off all the top growth and wait three weeks before lifting the spuds - it takes that long for spores on the soil to die, or so I have read.

ive got brown spots on my mira too   i was just hoping it was old age or something other than blight.  i thought they had another month or so to go before lifting so dont really want to cut off the foliage too early (unless of course it is blight).  i will have another look later in the week, and have a furtle to see if they are big enough already in case i have to take such extreme action
