Grrrrr, second year on the trot and the little maggoty gits are in my leeks again. 
If I cut off the top of the plant, will it carry on growing or is it now too late?

No cut the top off they'll be ok.  I get the same problem, one year I literally peeled every leek open to get at and squash the little sods. They didn't half look a mess when I was finished but they still grew!!

Couple of weeks on and after cutting the leeks off at ground level they have re-grown to their previous height with a healthy flush. Many thanks Tatyanne.
