Anyone got any tips on where to get either a goose or turkey?  And is it too late for this year?

Many thanks

Thanks for the reply.

We're in the Peak District close to Buxton.  If anyone has a suggestion as to where to get the chicks it'd be appreciated.

We've got laying hens and lots and lots of space to have a few more birds on.

Cheers

Nick

You could try little morton farm, (it has a web site)  It is south of Chesterfield.

Some places are already booked up, but you may be lucky to get one still, shame we are too far away!

August is the best time, but for a smaller end product turkey wise, Brian used to get some September hatched poults.

Hope you get sorted!

I have been reading up on rearing turkeys & all the info says they shouldn't be reared on ground that chickens have been/are on, due to some diseases (blackhead)/ infections etc they can catch.  Is this true?

My brother rears a flock of turkeys for Christmas and he very strictly segregates them from where any chickens may have been previously.
