red cabbage
« on: July 11, 2009, 16:34 »
Hi all. I had my red cabbage in pots in the garden ready to plant out today in a freshly dug bed at the lotty (as per seed pack instructions).
Despite the baby cabbages being netted the darling ducks managed to get to them and I am now left with only 2.
Is it worth sowing any more or am I really too late now?

It is rather late now. I find red cabbage take much longer to mature than the "normal" cabbage, my March sown ones have yet to heart up.

I shall soon be sowing the cabbage seed for harvesting next spring.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
