Are you one of the fortunate few who don't have to hoe weeds?

That will keep it down.

A rolling stone and all that!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Well, all I can say is that there's been no alternative replies! :tongue2:

Moss will grow on undisturbed soil, regardless. I get it in places where it stands for a few months after winter digging.

I suppose the additional shade from the netting may be a factor and perhaps the netting helps to retain moisture a little.

I don't get 1/2 the amount of weeds under the netting as I do in the open - less wind blow seed I expect. Doesn't stop the small nettles that hide under the cabbages and sting the inside of your wrist though  :( .

I know some of my potted plants that are not touched, (other than for watering) have a very light covering of moss, I guess this is probably caused with the surface not being disturbed!  :)

Is the moss a problem? I ask because I don't have moss and wonder whether it is harmful on the surface

I imagine it is something to do with reduced sunlight as moss tends not to grow well in full sun prefering some shade and good moisture levels.

To prevent build up - as has probably been said - hoe so it doesn't have a chance to develop.

Just a suggestion.

Maybe not to do with weeds, but DD has answered it there.  Its not a problem and can retain both moisture and aid slow evaporation. If it worries you then hoe it off
