Hello  my pepper plants flower buds are developing and then turning black, any idea what is going with these poor chaps?  They are outside?  please help

I'm no expert, but peppers will drop flowers when something is not right - too hot, too cold or too much watering. Often the first flowers fall off without setting fruit, then you get a second flush. Are they in big enough pots? Have you fed them?

Most likely just "early season" - i.e. the plants aren't "ready" to set fruit - colder than the plant can, yet, handle.

My flowers went black at the base of the stem and fell off last year, dunno if it's the same thing but I worked it out that it was down to overwatering! I now leave them on the dry side

They can also drop flowers after you've put them in bigger pots or if you give them ferts with lots of nitrogen in (I believe)

ahhh...you've just answered a query of mine...

I've just transplanted mine direct into the ground and a few flowers dropped!
