saving seed from broad beans
« on: June 19, 2009, 18:17 »
I would like to save seed from broad beans (A. Caudia); there are pods on the plants which are getting a bit big to eat. Do I let them go brown on the plant (and lose more to mice) or pick them and dry them out?

I saved broad bean seeds last year by leaving on the plant til pods went brown then picking, podding and allowing to dry.
Worked well and I've got good results with the seed this year
Playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order!

Thanks, I'll do that and hope that the mice leave me some.
