Black aphids runner beans.

Do I need to use chemicals to rid my runners? Ants are doing there best but so many aphids. Been told spray with soapy water. Any help please.

LOL! So the ants are part of the problem. I have so much to learn. Squigging aphids is not my idea of fun but, a gardener has to do, what a gardener has to do! I'll get the wife to do it.

Try the jam trick. Put a small blob of jam on a leaf above the aphid colonies - the ants prefer the jam to the aphid secretions, eat the jam & then kill the aphids. It does work, i've tried it on broad bean plants. The only trouble is you look a right idiot applying jam to your plants & the rain will wash the it off too. I'm using homemade blackcurrant jam that I overcooked & went sugary, so at least there's a use for it too.
