I popped up Saturday morning to put my leeks in, my plot is now full to bursting with everything growing well and I am very happy with how things are progressing, beginners luck perhaps?

I looked around for something to take back for lunch, this is what I took…

Half a dozen young Kale leaves.
One Turnip with leaves, just a bit bigger than a golf ball.
Half a dozen young, plump broad bean pods.

I washed the turnip and kale leaves well, removed stems and chopped into strips.
Peeled the turnip and sliced thinly with a Julienne Cutter.
Cubed two rashers of smoked back bacon.
Removed broad beans from pods.

Threw the lot in a frying pan with a little garlic, seasoning and ev-olive oil.

Spooned over some thick, toasted wholemeal bread and just to finish it off, added a dollop of Crème fraîche from the fridge.

Simple, delicious and mostly mine.

Still eating beans from last year had millions, well quite a few.

We've just had our first lettuce and cress with tea. Its very satisfying isn't it?

You can't beat the feeling of growing your own veg and eating it.
