Hi all,

I know you can pick pea shoots from pea plants and eat them, but I'm concerned that this will stop them growing - is this the case? Do I need to wait until they've reached full height?

I don't think that pea plant sown for pea pods would be too happy about having their tops chopped off.   I sowed some spare chitted pea seeds very close together specifically for pea shoots.  It worked, but I find the shoots fairly tasteless.

I like pea tips to eat - I find them sweet and pea-y.

You can sow them specifically as mentioned above, in which case use mange touts as they make more tips. I also take one pick of tips from each sowing of full size peas and mangetout that I make, and as far as I can tell they don't mind a bit.

Better me than the pigeons!

I've picking and eating the tips, still got loads of pods, shoots and flowers.
