Pouring here and has been since about 11am. No sign of a let up either.  The ground is loving it but I got stuff to do out there!  Chucks are all bedraggled too poor loves.

Instead I was shortening curtains  :tongue2:

pretty substantial rain here all day, although it's stopped now.  still went down the plot though, planted out some climbing french beans and courgettes, raked a couple of beds too, much easier to work compared to the concrete type soil during the hot spell!!

I have butternut squash and courgette plants that I carefully planted on a mound each.  I water them through a sunken 2ltr plastic bottle rather than from above.  So, my question is, what happens with all this rain we are getting?  Do they get mouldy quickly?  Or does nature sort it out?

Heavy rain yesterday evening and all through this morning - I went for a bike ride with some folks and after a couple of hours was wet through (I don't wear waterproofs, just warm-when-wet stuff) and dripping all over the floor of a cafe we stopped at.

Sunny south coast has been just that much of the day - I  came home having caught the sun.... didn't realise we'd had that much.

Rain was forecast for around 5 pm and it's only just arrived (midnight) which was just as well as I had time to plant out:
•   Leeks (2 rows),
•   Peas (two trays of paper pots),
•   Chrysanthemums (6 early, 6 late),
•   Lettuce (under wire 2 rows mixed)
•   Spring onions (red - 3 pots full)
•   Spinach (3 patches)

Now it'll all be nicely watered in and the spuds will welcome a slosh too!!  :)

We've been rather fortunate - no rain for weeks, lovely sunny day yesterday, then torrential rain during the night but another sunny day today! Perfect!  :) Although i'm hoping nothing got flattened as the rain was VERY heavy.  Just off to check now ..........

Thunder and lightning here with very very heavy rain, hope it stops soon as the dogs are terrified and not been out to see how chucks are although they do have plenty of places to get out of it.

Oh dear, now got some battered and waterlogged spuds - hope they'll recover from having their containers tipped up for clear the water.

It's been around 36 hours of constant and sometimes v. heavy rain here. Got back from shopping yesterday to find a hanging basket of toms face down on the floor - obviously need more drainage holes. Roses and rocket bashed to bits and it's promising more of the same until Wednesday!

Rain is good but this much is not funny now :(
