Well about 7.30pm we had rain then by 7.35 it had stopped, so not much got a watering, and I rushed to mow my lawn today as they had forcast heavy rain around teatime  >:(

We got enough to give everything a good watering, and to bring out the slugs. (who are all now collected and removed from the veg patch). :D

I never thought I would welcome rain like I do nowadays and as silly as it sounds but in my short time as an allotment owner it seems spuds in particular can be slowly growing but then a couple of days rain and bang their huge.

I take full responsibility / credit.  I watered the plot on Thursday evening  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

You can have some of ours - it's been coming down in stair rods for hours :)  It appears to be rotating around the Bristol area and we've got two days  of it to come - sigh!  The allotment will love it, especially the spuds and it will probably double the yield of first earlies, which were looking a bit sorry for themselves a couple of days ago.     But the slugs and weeds will love it too.  And my lupins are already flopping over - the roses will go all soggy too and they were looking wonderful.  Still, we can't everything and I can now get on with some sadly neglected house cleaning ;)

It's been raining solidly here in Manchester since about 3pm yesterday...

My new water butt might even fill up at this rate!

Was supposed to be digging this weekend, looks like that's out...  :(

We had some steady drizzly type rain for a good few hours yesterday so that will have soaked in nicely. I haven't been out so far so I'm not sure how many slugs came out to have a party and eat my plants. I am itching to get my spuds out but looks like they can stay in a bit longer to take advantage of this bit of rain.
