Sick onion

Sick onion

My onions and shallots are doing splendidly apart from a few bolters, but last evening I found one red all limp on the ground with the leaves and crown all mushy, any idea what the problem is peeps?

Slugs?  Sounds the way they leave Spring bulbs after a visit.

exactly the same happened to me. the stem collapsed and the leaves whent mushy. asked some ppl at the allot but they didn't know the cause.
